The purpose of this series is to build upon the concepts introduced in the previous volumes (volume 1&2). In this volume, (volume 3) the focus will be on setting up rigs for facial animation (lip sync) as well as an in-depth look at enveloping and weighting of the entire character. You will learn how to construct an advanced facial rig for the Sumerian character (included). This is a complex character consisting of many extra objects, such as a cloth skirt, a necklace for secondary action, spice pouches and bandoliers.

But that’s not all, you will learn how to set-up and work with the animation mixer and see how this unique and powerful XSI tool can be used to your advantage in facial/shape animation.

This 3rd volume of the ACR series will instruct you step by step in the procedures necessary for building an advanced facial animation system capable of lip-synch. You will be introduced to creating, storing and using shapes. You will learn about phonemes and how to create and use them. You will learn how to make effective use of the XSI animation mixer and how to layer both phonemes and emotional expressions. Lastly, you will shown how to weight the character in far more detail than in previous volumes.
